Wet Tensile Tester

Wet Tensile Tester

Mechanism

The equipment consists of a loading frame, loading mechanism, force measuring mechanism, and a controlled heater designed to heat specimens up to 300°C. It includes a facility to accommodate a special specimen tube.

A digital strength indicator is provided to measure wet tensile strength up to 60 g/cm² along with a built-in temperature indicator.

Default supply requirements: 230V AC, 50Hz. Requires 6 Kg/cm² pneumatic air supply.

Misc. Specifications

  • Fully automatic testing cycle for wet tensile strength determination.
  • Optional computer interfacing with customized software for data acquisition, analysis & plotting.
  • Selectable units: g/cm² or N/mm².

Sand Type

Green Sand

Test

Determines the wet tensile strength of foundry sand.

Application

When clay-bonded sand mould surfaces are strongly heated for a defined duration, part of the water evaporates and recondenses in the cooler sand region, causing a significant drop in strength in that condensation zone.

The Wet Tensile Tester measures this tensile strength drop in the condensation zone, helping determine mould behavior under thermal load.

Range

0 to 60 g/cm²

Precautions

  • Burn Hazard: Heater temperature reaches up to 300°C.
  • Remove accumulated water from the FRL unit periodically.

Maintenance

Clean the equipment after every use to ensure accurate readings and longer lifespan.
